I don’t know how it is where you live, but here in San Diego every fall the local market has a huge selection of apples of every kind. It’s when my sister makes her jars of apple butter. Today, though, I’m sharing an old recipe for Apple Slice Cake. Enjoy!
Heirloom Apple Slice Cake Recipe
(Do this in order)
2 cups of sugar
1 cup of oil (melted oleo or shortening)
Mix together and then add
2 beaten eggs, then add
2 cups flour
1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinammon
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
4 cups finely sliced apples (raw)
1 cup nuts
Pour into a 13 x 9 x 3″ pan, greased and floured
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes.
The recipe says this cake keeps very well.
